那古野のルーツをさかのぼると約400年前の名古屋城築城に行きつきます。「清洲越」で移り住んできた商人たちが行き交う、それは活気に溢れた城下町だったと伝えられています。いま、当時の面影を残す町並みは数えるほどですが、積み重ねられた有形無形の文化は現代に紡がれ歴史とモダンがとけ合う、つぎの那古野が生まれました。江戸から続く時間の流れに身を委ねながらこの地で芽吹き後世に繋がる新たな文化の花を感じていただけるはずです。
Nagono was born as a bustling castle town around 400 years ago with the construction of Nagoya Castle. Today, traces of the Edo era blend seamlessly with modern culture, creating a district that continues to evolve. From traditional crafts such as Nagoya lanterns and Arimatsu shibori, to historic and contemporary architecture, and from Japanese cuisine to French, Italian, and refined tea cafés, the area offers a rich variety of experiences. Stroll through streets adorned with seasonal colors—cherry blossoms, Tanabata decorations, or flower-filled basins—or enjoy a rickshaw ride for a unique perspective. Nagono is a place where history is cherished, craftsmanship is passed on, and new culture continues to flourish into the future.

町屋に新たな表情を生み出し未来に残す庭を作る造園。那古野界隈は建物の軒先を利用した小さなスペースのため、植物が育ちづらい環境でもありますが、様々な砂や土を組み合わせるなど工夫されています。街の中に溶け込む小さなオアシスは人々の心を潤し、記憶に残る庭となっています。
A garden created to bring new expression to townhouses and to be preserved for the future. In Nagono, where only small spaces along the eaves of buildings are available, plants struggle to thrive. Yet through ingenuity—such as blending different sands and soils—these small urban oases are nurtured. They refresh the spirit and leave lasting memories.

名古屋提灯や三宝、有松絞りなど名古屋は伝統とともに工芸技術も盛んな地。そのクオリティの高さを活かし現代に寄り添うアイテムにも出会っていただけるでしょう。
Nagoya is also a hub of traditional craftsmanship—Nagoya lanterns, ceremonial “sanpō” stands, and Arimatsu shibori tie-dyeing. Visitors can encounter items that embody this high quality while fitting seamlessly into modern life.

盆栽とアート
Bonsai art
那古野の本坊筋にある町屋がリノベーションされ、2020年秋に完成しました。入り口のアプローチから奥に目をやると、樹齢200年ほどの真柏が据えられています。ガラスフレームからの眺めは、積み重ねてきた年月とともに楽しむ生きるアート作品です。
On Honbo Street in Nagono, a renovated townhouse was completed in the autumn of 2020. From the entrance pathway, your eyes are drawn inward to a 200-year-old juniper tree. The view through the glass frame reveals a living artwork, to be appreciated together with the passage of time.

花手水舎や夏には七夕飾り、金魚など散策しながら日本の四季を感じていただけるような彩りある景色。何気なく歩く散歩道や路地で出会う季節の移ろいも。いつ出現するかはタイミング次第。

Restored storehouses and old townhouses—revived through the dedication of carpenters, plasterers, and tile masters—are infused with the wish to remain beloved for the next 100 years.
